Presenter information guide

20–23 May 2025

Poster presenter information

Overview
Posters are designed to show experimental data in a compact and visual format, showcasing the best of academic progress, particularly early-stage or late-breaking research. Commercial entities are permitted to present posters but must adhere to the overall spirit of posters in displaying this data, and not be overtly advertorial in tone or promote the virtues of a specific product without adequate data to support the argument.

Important notes: all poster presenters need to submit a PDF for regulatory review by Friday 18 April 2025 using your FULL name in the filename for ease of identification. If we do not receive your poster by this deadline, we may be unable to allocate you a poster place at London Calling 2025.

The products provided by Oxford Nanopore Technologies are currently for research use only. As they have not been submitted for review to any regulatory agency/notified body for clinical diagnostics, caution must be exercised when describing the application of nanopore sequencing products in the clinical research field. Please ensure you have read the Clinical research presentations — requirements for materials guidance (provided via the below) in advance of preparing your poster.

Posters are subject to regulatory review prior to the event.

On-site poster information

If you have been allocated an on-site poster place at London Calling 2025, kindly follow the guidance below:

- Ensure your poster is in PORTRAIT orientation — landscape posters cannot be displayed

- Poster size: A0

- Width x Height (mm): 841 x 1189

- Width x Height (in): 33.1 x 46.8

- Leave a blank space, 60 mm (width) x 100 mm (height), at the top right of your poster — this is where your poster number will be displayed. Please note: disclaimers and conflict-of-interest statements must be visible and not be obscured by your poster number sticker

- Avoid printing on canvas as it does not adhere well to poster boards

On the day

Please bring your approved printed poster to Old Billingsgate (1 Old Billingsgate Walk, London EC3R 6DX) and go straight to the poster registration desk between 08:00–08:30 BST on Wednesday 21 May. Here, you will be provided with a sticker noting your poster number, adhesive Velcro, and instructions on how to attach your poster to the display boards. We recommend putting your name in FULL on BOTH the poster tube and the reverse of the actual poster. Please note: if you would like to take your poster home after the conference, please come promptly to the Poster hall to collect it after the final session on Thursday 22 May. Any posters not collected at this time will be disposed of by the venue.

Poster networking

There are designated poster networking sessions where on-site poster presenters are kindly requested to stand next to their posters so delegates and fellow speakers can ask questions. For more details, please see the latest agenda available here

Other considerations when preparing your poster:

  • To aid audience comprehension, please write all acronyms in full the first time they are used. Notable exceptions include DNA, RNA,
    PCR, and cDNA

  • Please do not add any additional Oxford Nanopore logos to your poster unless you are an agreed affiliated partner of Oxford Nanopore

  • Ensure the title of your poster matches the title agreed at invitation

  • Prior to submitting your poster, we recommend checking it for any spelling or formatting issues, and to ensure any images do not appear blurry. It may be useful at this point to check that all references, tables, and figures are numbered sequentially

Style and terminology guide preferences
Thank you for compiling your poster. While you are of course free to write in your own style, we are sharing some style conventions that we use for consistency.

'Long-read sequencer' is a misleading categorisation; the platform has multiple properties that include the ability to sequence any-length fragments of DNA/RNA

  • When talking about your research, it should be clear you are assessing the potential future clinical application of nanopore sequencing and that you are not currently applying the technology for any clinical diagnostic or prognostic purposes. It should be made clear that our products are RUO

  • If presenting an internally validated workflow, please present the whole workflow (e.g. including sample prep and data analysis). Do not focus purely on nanopore sequencing
